Located in the Pacific Ocean, east of the Australian coast, Zealandia covers an area of 4.9 million square kilometres, more than twice that of Greenland. It is the smallest of the eight continents and 94% of its surface is submerged. Its land masses are mainly made up of New Zealand and New Caledonia, but also include small islands in New Zealand, Australia and New Caledonia. The surface of Zealandia is on average 1,100 meters below sea level; its highest point is Aoraki (Mount Cook), which rises in New Zealand to an altitude of 3,724 meters.

Geological evolution:

Like India, Australia, Antarctica, Africa and South America, Zealandia was part of Gondwana, a supercontinent that fragmented during the Jurassic and Cretaceous, between 160 and 80 million years ago. If, on its side, India went to join the Asian continent to which it joined by creating the Himalayan chain, Zealandia and the other fragments of Gondwana separated to form each a distinct continent. Between 300 and 100 million years ago, the future continent of Zealandia was located on the edge of Gondwana, above a subduction zone. As a result, its geology is dominated by an almost permanent volcanic activity, comparable to that of the current peri-pacific "ring of fire". During and after its rifting with Australia, Zealandia underwent a stretching and consequently a thinning of its crust, from 35 to 25 kilometres thick, no longer allowing it to emerge completely from the Pacific Ocean, under which its largest surface is therefore found today.

Spot on the collective unconscious:

Carl Jung’s collective unconscious is a shared, inherited layer of the human psyche containing universal archetypes* and structural potentials that shape thoughts, behaviours, and perceptions across cultures. This concept challenges the idea of a "blank slate," suggesting we are born with innate psychological blueprints that facilitate self-discovery and personal growth when put into surface.

One of Jung’s most significant contributions lies in his discovery of archetypes*. These archetypal patterns are deeply embedded in the collective unconscious, forming the core symbols that are universally understood and recognised.

*Archetypes: Universal patterns or symbols shared among individuals across cultures and ages.

The collective unconscious is an essential component of human evolution, providing us with a shared heritage and influencing our understanding of the world.”– Carl Jung

When I’ve heard about Zealandia, the 8th continent, I suddenly associated its discovery to the collective unconscious. I also bounced on the last FM of the 26th Oct 26, putting number 8 on the top of the mountain..

The most important in this action of discovery is that the geologists who found the hidden continent have allowed people to dig in their collective unconscious. It wasn’t an ordinary moment. But to navigate in the dark sea of consciousness, you need a map, here it is:

In Jung’s model of the psyche, there are various personified structures that interact with one another in our inner world. Two of these, the persona and the anima/animus, are relational; the persona relates to the external world, and the anima/animus to the internal world. The ego, which is primarily body-based and may be understood as the executive part of the personality, stands alongside the shadow, and these two are to do with our identity.

According to Jung:

... the shadow is that hidden, repressed, for the most part inferior and guilt-laden

personality whose ultimate ramifications reach back into the realm of our animal ancestors...If it has been believed hitherto that the human shadow was the source of evil, it can now be ascertained on closer investigation that the unconscious man, that is his shadow does not consist only of morally reprehensible tendencies, but also displays a number of good qualities, such as normal instincts, appropriate reactions, realistic insights, creative impulses...

Awareness gives the human being the opportunity to tame his own shadow. This is the opportunity to win over one’s weaknesses, traumas, repressed behaviours.

The work on our shadow is the quest for the hidden power of our dark side.

In astrology, one can also associate the shadow to the fictive points of the Black Sun and the Black Moon. https://www.essencediaries.com/post/a-few-words-about-the-black-moon

The axis of the nodes being definitely associated with the collective unconscious.
