The planets harmonize when they are in their related signs. The further away from their ruling sign, the more the global meaning of the planet is modified. When a planet is located in the opposite sign (or house), it is considered to be in exile.
Domicile and Exile illustrate these opposites, while Exaltation and Fall illustrate the surroundings of these extremes. Each planet has its ruling sign, but it also has its special sign, where it still feels at home, with security and harmony. There the potential manages to emanate its positive or active energy.

Exile & Exodus, why not?
After a coupe of years investigating in trans-generational memories or behalf genealogy, I might be tempted to say that planets in exile correspond to an exodus, a movement of the ancestors that 'shifts' something, maybe by changing area, country, language, culture. The exodus can be forced or voluntary, due to war, disease or marriage, new occupation...
On the other hand, planets in domicile should show a transmission (or conservation) of a characteristic, a talent, a gift, a patrimony....something given by the ancestors stuck in the DNA.
Retrograde planets and karmas:
Planetary retrogradation occurs when a planet appears to move backward in its orbit relative to the Earth’s orbit around the Sun. While this phenomenon is an optical illusion caused by the varying speeds of planetary orbits, its astrological implications are deeply studied.

The Vedic astrology considers retrograde planets as potent karmic messengers, inviting us to be aware of lessons left incomplete in past lives. When a planet turns retrograde, its energy doesn't weaken. It becomes self reflective and charged with an unexpressed potential.
It is also interesting to see in which house the lesson has to be re-learnt.
Retrograde planets remind us that the soul’s journey is neither linear nor hurried. It loops throughout forgotten routes, revisit old scripts and relives emotional echoes till all karmic accounts are steeled.

What happens if????
If you have a Retro planet in exile, it is definitely a challenge of understanding and perception. The planet looks like a countercurrent balancing the energy of the sign or the house.
To me, it represents a gift given by the ancestors that has been lost somewhere in the collective or the family unconscious. A Retrograde planet in exile needs a process of remembrance, of knowledge of the family characteristics, places, occupations, meanings of the names ....
This aspect should be an instinctive or intuitive talent rising without being taught.
Answer and question:

Some psychologists, most famously Carl Jung, have theorised that we’re born with the memories and experiences of our ancestors imprinted on our DNA.
Can You inherit memories from your ancestors without having to experience them first hand?
